Hirakud Dam Opens 10 Sluice Gates to Discharge Floodwater;Water Level Reaches 614.31 Ft | Argus News The authorities of Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur have opened 10 sluice gates to release this season's first floodwater. Following heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas, the water inflow has significantly increased, prompting the administration to open 7 gates on the left side and 3 on the right side. As of 8 AM today, the water level of the reservoir stands at 614.31 feet. Currently, while 1.13 lakh cusecs of water is entering the dam per second, approximately 1.40 lakh cusecs is being discharged.
