Along with him, the former PD-DRDA Suryanarayan Das and a transport contractor Satyananda Balasamanta have been sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment by the Dhenkanal Vigilance Special Judge. The case involves the embezzlement of approximately ₹9 lakh during 2001-02 related to food grain transportation from FCI godowns.
